DETERMINATION OF ACTUAL DISTANCES FOR INSTALLATION OF A 100 kVA NON-SOUNDPROOF POWER GENERATOR AT RESIDENTIAL AREAS

Abstract:Power generators should be professionally sited from the residential areas as noise from them demeans the superiority of our living. This work therefore presents determination of actual distances for installation of a 100 kVA non-soundproof power generator at residential areas. Measurements of noise levels with respect to distance, x from the generator were taken and linear regression method was used to analyse the data obtained. Environmental noise models were developed by using the relevant displayed parameters such as the maximum noise level of the generator, the attenuation coefficient and the coefficient of determination. The results obtained from the models developed, L(modelled) were compared with the results obtained from the physical measurements, L(measured) and there was insignificant difference between them. The results reveal that the distances, xc in metres in which its adverse effects covered in the residential areas were 0≤x_c≤67, while the distances, xs in metres at which it can be sited from the residential areas were 68≤x_s≤∞ . With the existence of x, the models developed in this work are recommended to be used as more reliable tools for environmental noise impact assessments.

EXPLORING CRUCIAL FACTORS FOR INTEGRATING MEDICAL CLOUD AND HEALTHCARE LOGISTICS BY DANP

Abstract:This study aims to investigate and explore the critical success factors which affect the integration of medical cloud and pharmaceutical logistics operations. To achieve research objective, we firstly collected the opinions of medical management experts through the process of the Delphi method, and then affecting the integration of medical cloud and healthcare logistics operations were screened and summarized. Secondly, the questionnaire was conducted and 11 experts’ assessments of the influence between every two factors were acquired. Furthermore, this study employed DANP to calculate the weight for each factor when there exists interaction relationship among the factors and to plot causal map. Reviewing the causal map and the weights for each factor, “To induct artificial intelligence (AI) into medical treatment” and “To develop intelligent healthcare logistics” are significantly higher than other factors in terms of total influence value, net influence value and relative importance. Our findings can provide hospitals and pharmaceutical companies as a basis in formulating cloud medical development strategy.

PERCEPTION AND IMPORTANCE OF MENTOR-MENTEE PROGRAMME IN INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (IIT, JODHPUR) TO FIRST YEAR ENGINEERING STUDENT

Abstract:Background: Mentoring is a crucial step for career success and there is lot of stress of different engineering courses in the new environment along with emotional immaturity and new challenges. A well-designed and structured mentoring programme for the budding engineers has been introduced at IIT. A specialized institutional support is required for an IIT student to facilitate success. To facilitate this high level of success for every student, the approach should be active and antecedent. Mentoring has always been an important part in an engineering students’ career. Material and methods: A mentorship programme were designed for engineering students (n-120) at the Indian Institute of Technology, Jodhpur. Two-day workshop was conducted to sensitize senior students of third semester (n-15) who volunteered to be dedicated mentors. After sensitization, 120 B.Tech first semester students were divided among these mentors by a lottery system. At the end of the mentorship programme, perception of mentors and mentees was done by content analysis of all the data collected by open ended and close ended questionnaire. Results: A total of 120 students and 15 mentors completed the feedback questionnaire. Mentors themselves consider this programme helpful in their self-improvement as role models, advisors or career counselors and in improving their communication skills and mentees were of the view that the programme helped them emotionally and academically. Conclusion: Mentor-mentee programme in IIT enhanced the engineering students professional and personal development and both mentors and mentees were extremely satisfied with this programme for career development.
